Loss is part of life, but it can be very hard to imagine it, let alone even talk about. When approaching an ending, or wondering how to move forward following an ending, there may be feelings of emptiness, fear, sadness, anger, pain, or even nothing at all. You may find yourself tearful throughout the day. You may be overwhelmed with to-do lists, running through your days with emotions bubbling under the surface. You may be unable to talk about the loss with the people in your life. You may feel unsettled and guilty about mixed feelings you have about the loss. You may feel afraid of the future, or crippled by the past, struggling to understand and assimilate the loss into your life.
When facing losses and transitions, whether sudden or expected, finding meaning in the pain is challenging.
In therapy, we make space together to listen closely to your experience, untangle your pain, uncover your strengths, and work toward a new understanding of the loss.
